The winter of 2023 was characterized by the absence of the usual cold, which brought forward the arrival of spring and accelerated the process of sprouting and physiological development of the plants. We experienced adverse weather conditions, characterized by warm winds interspersed with cold, which impacted flowering in late November and early December. January saw low rainfall, which was beneficial for our white varieties, such as Chardonnay, Semillon, Marsanne and Roussanne. These varieties advanced their ripening cycle, maintaining an optimal sanitary condition. During February and March, we had cool days due to rainfall, which contributed to a more balanced physiological maturity in our red varieties. The slow polyphenolic maturity provided by the rains at this time resulted in a good balance between sugar and acidity, promising excellent quality grapes with a good aromatic profile. Despite facing weather challenges that impacted flowering, the overall quality of the harvest was optimal. Our technical team formed by Ignacio Figueroa, Francisco "Paco" Puga and Joaquín Ramírez concluded that this vintage was characterized by exceptional concentration in the red wines, accompanied by a remarkable structure, while the white wines exhibited fresh and balanced acidity. |
